Google snags up mobile social game developer SocialDeck

Google snags up mobile social game developer SocialDeck: "

Google, famous for it’s acquisition of smaller companies to continue their universal domination, has added yet another company to their portfolio: SocialDeck. SocialDeck is a company that develops social-based mobile games. They boast about 1 million downloads of their games last year, with apps such as Pet Hero, Color Connect and Shake & Spell.

While the company has before focused on cross-mobile-platform development, it would only make sense that Google would want to hone in their efforts solely on the Android platform. However, with SocialDeck having such a heavy foot in the door of social networking, it is possible to speculate that Google may be heading in different, more unexpected directions… but only time will tell. Full letter from SocialDeck below:

SocialDeck is joining Google!

Big news! We’re super excited to announce that someone found our social games as fun as you have — in this case, that “someone” is Google. SocialDeck has been acquired and we’ve joined the Google team.

We started this company with the goal of connecting friends through social games on all kinds of exciting mobile devices. We’ve been amazed and humbled by all the stories and experiences our customers (you!) have shared with us.

Thank you for all your support and for being part of SocialDeck’s success so far.

Happy Shaking!
